Friends with Benefits!

Well here's an unexpected benefit of Internet dating, at least for the criminal fraternity!

Over the last few months I have attended police stations, as duty solicitor, at the request of various clients arrested for drug dealing. Most were away from their home area and when asked why they were so far from home with Class 'A' drugs stuffed down their socks, if it wasn't for the sole purpose of dealing, the stock answer seems to be 'I was meeting this girl I met on an Internet dating site and the 'gear' is my own. No intention of supplying it.'

So when asked where the £1000+ stuffed in their pocket had come from as the police, perhaps resonably, thought it was the profit from drug deals, the conversation went something like this with one particular client.
'It's my savings.'

'But you're on benefits, ' I exclaimed, 'how can you save £1000 from an income of £140 a fortnight?'

'I'm good with money.'

Clearly! Think I need advice from his financial advisor!

Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'friends with benefits'!

  1. I am Interested to know what your latest beau thinks about having his life written about so effusively & publicly ?

  2. Anon - Why are you so concerned? Surely if her "latest beau" was unhappy with the literary content here, he would voice his concerns and I'd assume she would stop. I think this line of thought is genarally known as "logic".

  3. Maverick, whilst that may indeed be logical it assumes that he is aware in the 1st place does it not ?

  4. Anon..... more logic. Do you really think that this very intelligent criminal lawyer would attempt to hide this blog from her LP? Somehow I rather doubt that.... as the results of that transgression would, I assume, have rather disasterous results on the longevity of any liason between Daisy and LP.

  5. Maverick - it seems to me that, intelligence aside, if one is unaware of the blog one would not go searching for it. Moving on a little, I now wonder what view would be held by employers & clients if they were aware ? It's an interesting point perhaps worthy of a response ?

As no names or photos are being used, who cares, no ones is being hurt, named, or offended. Its just a few people reading an interetsing blog for amusement. If it troubles you or offends you, dont read it. But Daisy please don't stop writing, so of us love it. And if I am on a flight with an LP sitting next to a loved up criminal lawyer, I WOULD BE DELIGHTED to talk to you for the whole flight.

  7. Suzi - please dont worry, as I may have previously assured you I am neither troubled or offended but I thank you for your concern. I do however repeat my question, to daisy, as she is not only the author but also the criminal lawyer
